Why we never pay for ratings

What "honest" means here, and the rules that make it true.

Paid ratings backfire

Marketplaces actively detect and remove incentivised positive reviews, and buyers can tell. A listing full of five stars and no detail earns less trust than one with honest mixed feedback.

Lum reward honesty, not stars

A tester earns exactly the same for a one-star review as a five-star one, as long as it's genuine and on time. Sellers can never ask for a better rating or contact testers about their review.

No self-reviews, no conflicts of interest

You can't review your own products, and you can't review products from someone who reviewed yours. Those are blocked in the product, not just in our terms.
